Do You Put Yourself First?

How often do you put yourself first and not feel like your being selfish?

For me, not very often.  I have no idea why this is, but I am learning how critical it is to put yourself first and not feel bad about it.

We all know that we should take care of ourselves.  We talk about it all the time.  Fill in the blank for you.  “I should {…………………………} to take better care of myself”.

What did you say?

Have you been able to work this into your life on a regular basis?

What changes do you need to make in your life in order for this to happen?

Renee Peterson Trudeau mentions 7 reasons why we should all begin to put ourselves first.  Below, please find an excerpt from her blog (Renee’s full blog can be found here):

“When we renew ourselves by attuning and responding to our needs,

We feel more generous and can avoid building resentment toward others who demand our energy and time

We naturally feel more loving, which makes us better friends, partners, and parents, and more enjoyable to be around

We validate and honor our own worth, which naturally enhances confidence and self-esteem, and lowers susceptibility to depression and anxiety

We renew and restore our energy supply and create energy reserves so we’re able to weather unforeseen challenges more easily

We’re more present and calm; we can respond wisely, intuitively, and effectively to a variety of circumstances

We begin to step into our personal power (and fully express our potential), which is our birthright

We feel good on the inside, which leads to looking good on the outside. Nurturing your essence promotes well-being and vitality.”

Please consider joining me and other women this fall as we work our way through Renee’s book, “The Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal: How to Reclaim, Rejuvenate and Re-balance Your Life”.

We will talk about self-care and how we can add this into our daily lives.

Classes begin September in Southeast Aurora in the Denver metro area. More information can be found under PRGs, or by contacting me here.
